My Place, Our Space

Many of our Youth Council member’s families have small business around Liverpool that serve their community.  The Youth Council decided to explore the impact the business and other local business have on their community.  The Youth Council visited 10 local businesses to interview both service providers and services users about how the local business contributes to local community spirit.

These interviews were filmed to create a DVD edited by the Youth Council.  Each local business featured on the DVD represents one of Liverpool’s faith and/or cultural communities.  The My Place, Our Space DVD is currently being developed into an educational resource for schools and youth groups across Liverpool that will allow other young people to explore how local businesses in their area contribute to the well-being of their community.

The project was named My Place, Our Space in tribute to those who share their ‘place’ with the local community to make it a communal ‘space’.

Partnerships: Tuebrook News, Goodison Supper Bar, Bold Street Fruit Market, Dafna’s Cheesecake Factory, Windmill Organic Foods, Oomoo Coffee Shop, McNaughton’s Newsagents, Carol Hasballah Hair, Matta’s International Store, The Eatern Food Store.

Adult Learners Course

This course gives you the opportunity to discover and explore six major world religions; Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.

It allows you to investigate, ask questions and draw your conclusions as to the beliefs, practices and traditions of each religion.

The course is delivered in a relaxing environment designed to encourage the participant to feel comfortable in asking those questions that you would feel uncomfortable asking in other situations.

You will have an opportunity to meet people who practice their faith. These people are specially chosen by Liverpool Community Spirit because of their openness and willingness to address challenging questions in a non-confrontational atmosphere of trust, friendship and honest pursuit of truth.
